DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE FOR THE CITY OF BULAWAYO
Moving Forward with Development
After many years of the City experiencing inadequate growth, it is now on a path of very considerable expansion. Previously depressed industries are recovering. Many new factories are being established, new shopping centres have been opened, hostels are under construction, the City’s infrastructure is being upgraded, and the water supply problems are rapidly becoming a feature of the past.
Many factors have contributed to the City’s transformation, a significant one being the dynamic investment-motivational drive of the City, spearheaded by the Development Committee for the City of Bulawayo (DCB). Although only established a little under 2 years ago, the Committee has hosted 2 investment conferences and 4 investment and trade delegations to Bulawayo. The Executive Mayor and other city officials have actively promoted the many investment opportunities on offer to the International community. Promotional material has been disseminated worldwide.
Many more projects are incubating and clearly Bulawayo is on the threshold of major growth with concomitant creation of employment and stimulation of trade. However, the drive to ensure Bulawayo’s future inevitably entails cost, which cannot be funded from the revenues of the municipality. Maximized success can only be realized if the Committee has an adequacy of funds to enable it to mount further investment conferences, intensify the distribution of promotional materials, and like endeavours.
The Committee therefore appeals to the residents of Bulawayo to support the development and growth of the City, by contributing to the fund for the development of Bulawayo. Any and all contributions, large and small will play an integral part in assuring the City’s wellbeing and continuing advancement. Such contributions should be forwarded to :
