Moving Forward With Development

THE DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE?

The Development Committee was formed, in 1997 and is chaired by the City’s Executive Mayor. Consisting of a cross-section of personalities from the city’s major business sectors, the DCB has become the foremost group lobbying for development in the City. These City visionaries are tasked with achieving set objectives and activities designed to realise full economic potential, as well as the creation of new opportunities as the City progresses beyond the year 2000.


DCB OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

  • The identification of development and investment opportunities in the City of Bulawayo.
  • The determination of incentives which could, from time to time be offered by the City of Bulawayo, the Government and/or others as would encourage investment in the City, including the formation of detailed proposals as to the nature, terms and conditions of such incentives and the making of representations to the relevant authorities and/or other parties for the introduction of such incentives.
  • Collation of a comprehensive database of all information likely to be required and sought by potential investors and dissemination of the aforesaid promotional material and data to Zimbabwe‘s Embassies and High Commissions, and any other interested Organisations.
  • Participation in Zimbabwe Investment Conferences, Seminars and/or Trade missions organised by government, the Zimbabwe Investment Centre, Zimtrade the export promotions body, other organisations, and the promotion of the City of Bulawayo in international fora, media etc.
  • Soliciting funding for the local, countrywide and international financing of the foregoing,
  • To undertake all such other things and activities as are ancillary and/or complementary to the foregoing and as will promote and encourage the development of the City of Bulawayo.
